Three days were enough to lift four of the last pieces in the Johan Sverdrup puzzle into place, namely the two final platform topsides, a bridge and a flare stack. The processing platform lift was the heaviest lift ever performed offshore. The installation and completion phase offshore at Johan Sverdrup began with installing the jacket for the riser platform in August 2017.

The world's largest supply vessel for LNG, named Kairos, conducted the first LNG bunker supply operation for the newbuild ferry MS Visborg at the ferry pier of the port of Visby. The bunker operation was signed by Nauticor and Destination Gotland in December 2017 and enables the ferry to run its service on LNG while connecting the Swedish mainland with the island of Gotland.

As trade volumes continue to increase, the world’s busiest ports continue to grow larger and more efficient to meet demand. In just the last four years, the median annual volume of the top 50 ports jumped from 5.49 to 5.86 million TEUs. The World Economic Forum, in cooperation with Visual Capitalist, issued an infographic depicting the world's busiest ports.

Diamond Offshore’s semi-submersible drilling rig Ocean GreatWhite is voyaging to the North Sea to work for Siccar Point, leaving Scotland's Kishorn Port. Kishorn Port revealed it had won a contract to prepare the world’s largest semi-submersible rig for its new contract off Shetland with Siccar Point in December 2018.

A Canadian manufacturer of energy storage systems signed a contract according to which it will be provided with the world's largest battery package for hybrid-powered vessels. The technology will be installed onboard Havila Kystruten’s environmentally-friendly coastal vessels.

One of the world's largest container vessels, 'COSCO shipping Pisces', that has a capacity of 20.000 TEU, was docked at Piraeus port on February 15, after voyaging for one month from China. This is the vessel's first voyage, after its delivery on January 15.

The turbine F18 is the first of the 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW units to be installed at the site some 120 kilometres offshore Yorkshire, UK, and the first to start producing power. The electricity that will be generated by the turbines will pass through one of the wind farm’s three offshore substations, before being transmitted by three high voltage subsea export cables, via a reactive compensation substation (RCS), to shore.

Hamburg-based Nauticor, a unit of Linde, reported that the world’s largest LNG bunker vessel, the 7,500-cbm Kairos was officially christened at the Hamburg Cruise Center Steinwerder. The vessel began being constructed in 2016. The vessel was delivered in October 2018, according to Nauticor.

Japanese shipping company MOL published a video of the world’s largest floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in operation in the Turkish port of Dörtyol, Hatay. The FSRU Challenger began operations in Turkey on February 2018. The floating storage and regasification unit has an LNG storage capacity of 263,000 cubic meters and has re-shipment and gas transfer capabilities.
