Celebrity Edge, the first ship to be completely designed in 3D has already started its Translantic voyage this month. The vessel marks a turning point on ship design, as from the first sketches, every step was done in 3D. Celebrity Cruise officially took delivery of Celebrity Edge from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France in November 2018.
World’s first LNG cruise ship, AIDAnova, has been successfully transferred to Eemshaven, Netherlands. The 180,000 tonne ship was transferred along the river Ems.
On October 8, AIDA Cruises’ newest ship AIDAnova departed the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. In Eemshaven, AIDnova will undergo the final sea trials.

Cruise company AIDA Cruises has named its latest ship AIDAnova on Friday evening, in a spectacular naming ceremony at AIDA Open Air at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. AIDAnova is the world’s first cruise ship that can be powered by low-emission LNG both at sea and in port.
In the above video the float out of the first mega block of AIDAnova on December 11, at the shipyard MEYER WERFT in Papenburg, Germany, is depicted. The AIDAnova is to be delivered by MEYER WERFT to the cruise line AIDA CRUISES in autumn 2018.
The video depicts a project involving the retrofitting of the 1,036-TEU feeder container ship’s MAN 8L48/60B main engine to a multi-fuel, four-stroke MAN 51/60DF unit that enables dual-fuel operation, the first conversion of its type.
The QUADRIGA is the first sailing cargo carrier in the world, built to transport goods emission-free, using only wind power to propel her across the ocean. In addition, she is the biggest sailing ship of all time. In the future, goods of all kind could be transported in a 100% positive life-cycle assessment. The project aims to fulfil industry’s vision of creating a greener, more sustainable solution for transport across the sea.
