The Ocean Shipping Antitrust Enforcement Act, introduced in 2022, amend title 46, United States Code, to repeal certain antitrust exemptions for ocean common carriers.

Bureau of International Containers (BIC), Contracts of affreightment (COA), Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL) and World Shipping Council (WSC) jointly issued updated guidelines for the cleaning of containers, providing easy-to-use best practices.

Mr. John Butler, President and CEO of the World Shipping Council (WSC), highlights that safety comes first and, in that regard, WSC is working along with other members to prevent accidents due to unsafe cargo. He refers to the MARINE Top Tier study that revealed the risks of parametric for container vessels and continues work to prevent incidents with containers lost at sea.
