Energy company calls the UK to act faster on wind energy

SSE, a UK-listed energy company, urges the next UK government to move faster on offshore and onshore wind projects in the race of achieving the country’s net zero targets by 2050, calling political leaders to place renewable energy as a priority in their efforts of fighting climate change.

Siemens Gamesa inks wind offshore MoU in Taiwan

Siemens Gamesa announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Formosa Plastics Corporation for offshore wind in Taiwan, today, July 5. The company noted that this follows a series of earlier agreements. 

Joint project launches wind turbine recycling

WindEurope, Cefic (the European Chemical Industry Council) and EUCIA (the European Composites Industry Association) have created a cross-sector platform to advance novel approaches to the recycling of wind turbine blades. Today, 2.5 million tonnes of composite material are used in the wind energy sector. 

Japanese firm partners on floating offshore wind farm

Shizen Energy, Japanese solar power company signed an agreement with Ideol, a French wind developer, collaborating on a full size floating wind farm off the coast of Japan. This partnership coincides with recent senior recruitments to shore up its local sales and engineering subsidiary. 

Irish offshore wind project a step closer to survey phase

The Oriel offshore wind project in Ireland is getting ready for the start of site surveys after having secured a license by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government. The investigation projects are planned to begin in August, at the site off the coast of Dundalk, in discussions with the stakeholders and the local community.

UK signs 10-year offshore project to boost domestic offshore wind market

The Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) launches a ten-year programme to support the growth of UK businesses looking to capitalise on the opportunities offered by offshore wind. The GBP 100 million project is planned to support more than 650 British companies to access the domestic offshore wind market and create further opportunities to enter the global market.

Orsted to be the bidder on New Jersey’s first offshore wind farm

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) opted for Ocean Wind, an offshore wind energy project proposed by Ørsted with support from Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), to negotiate a 20-year offshore wind renewable energy credit (OREC) for an offshore wind farm with a capacity of 1,100MW.

Ingeteam, who’s responsible for the electrical engineering, completed the commissioning of the first multi-turbine wind floating platform at its final location in the Atlantic Ocean. The WIP10 + prototype is 1.3 nautical miles off the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, specifically on the PLOCAN test bench, in front of the Punta de la Garita.
