During the 2019 SAFETY4SEA London Forum, Mr. Christopher Saunders, Global Marine Process Manager, RightShip, firstly provided an overview of RightShip’s risk rating to make delegates familiar with the organization’s vetting platform. Then, he moved on to explain how the industry must lead the sustainability charge and operate beyond compliance.

Today, the industry is responsible for 2.5% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, with the number expected to grow, as global trade rises. ABB believes electrification can provide a definite solution to this issue. According to ABB, the next generation of ships will be electric, digital and connected.

This year’s theme ‘Life below water: For People and Planet,’  aims to recognize the importance of a healthy ocean to human well-being and prosperity, and commit to a sea change in how we manage responsibly its precious and priceless resources, Achim Steiner, Administrator of United Nations Development Programme, said.
