The State of Florida welcomed the largest container ship ever docked on 11 December, at the Port of Miami. The “CMA CGM Magellan” is a 1,199-foot long, 167-foot wide container vessel and can transfer about 13,344 TEU.
The Northwest Seaport Alliance ordered eight new super-post-Panamax cranes from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries in China through a competitive bid process, as no container cranes currently are manufactured in the US. Four cranes arrived Friday and four more cranes will arrive in 2019.
The Port of Corpus Christi has informed that only 25% of the refining capacity is operational right now in the region and issued a video, depicting the first vessel to have entered the port after Harvey, on August 31st. The USCG also informed that eleven ports are closed or open with restrictions, as of 3 September.
