UK Chamber: We have to go faster on decarbonisation

The UK Chamber of Shipping’s Communications Director, Jonathan Roberts, is talking with respect to the ongoing efforts currently discussed at IMO MEPC 72 to reduce the industry’s environmental footprint. Mr. Roberts noted that any agreement reached this week will be a stepping stone in the global shipping decarbonisation deal.

UK Transport Secretary proposes Maritime 2050 vision

Speaking at the UK Chamber of Shipping’s Annual Dinner, Chris Grayling MP, Secretary of State for Transport, contributed to a “radical” vision that will support the nation’s maritime industry for the future. The UK Maritime 2050 strategy will have as key points, trade, technology, infrastructure, the environment, skills, safety and regulation, security and resilience. 

To sea or not to sea: Promoting maritime careers to young people

As part of the ‘Careers At Sea campaign’ which has been nominated for the 2017 SAFETY4SEA Initiative Award, the UK Chamber of Shipping and Merchant Navy Training Board have launched a film to boost the number of young people entering the maritime sector.

UK Chamber of Shipping: EU ignores risk of Brexit to EU ports

The UK Chamber of Shipping notes that, unless the EU and UK negotiatiors develop a new customs arrangement post-Brexit, EU member states and UK will suffer. In the video, the Chamber warns that the return of border controls would lead to increased bureaucracy, “guaranteed” lorry gridlock and threats to the prosperity of both EU member states and UK.
