DNV GL presented Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, with an approval certificate, for a new double side hull LPG carrier design – LPG SAFE, which is the first LPG carrier design to provide the safety benefit of a double side hull, while offering the same cargo carrying capacity and the same construction cost as a conventional design.

GTT and Lloyd’s Register have joined forces to present to maritime industry professionals the new GTT LPG containment system. The technology uses the corrugated stainless steel membrane from Mark III supported by plywood boxes filled with glass wool, allowing LPG vessels to transport more liquid and having a lower heat capacity.

American Bureau of Shipping announced that has granted a Certificate of General Design Approval for an IMO Type B LNG fuel tank design, developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries of South Korea. The tank design was conceptualized and developed to minimize the loss of cargo space and effectively use available area on board the vessel.

Damen’s InvaSave external ballast water treatment system has received IMO type approval. InvaSave treats ballast water to the IMO D-2 standard, for ballast water received from inbound ships. It can also deliver water treated to the same standard to outbound vessels.

The Singapore flag state authorities have approved Wärtsilä’s exhaust gas cleaning systems, making them the first systems to be approved by an Asian flag authority. The approvals relate to Wärtsilä EGC systems ordered for two new RoRo vessels owned by a Japanese shipowner and currently being operated by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.

DNV GL has assessed and granted Type Approval certification to Evoqua Water Technologies for its SeaCURE BWMS.

  The United States Coast Guard, Marine Safety Center (MSC)  updated the register of Letter of Intent (LOI) received from makers confirming their intention to seek USCG Type Approval for their Ballast Water Treatment Systems.
