The French shipping company, CMA CGM, launched the largest LNG-powered containership, Jacques Saadé, which is the first of nine 23,000 TEU containerships and future CMA CGM Group flagship. Total, the French energy major sealed the 10-year deal for the supply of approximately 300,000 tons of LNG for the nine containerships annually.

On June 27, Greece granted licenses to ExxonMobil as well as Total to search for hydrocarbons off the island of Crete. This move marks the country’s first major attempt into an oil and gas search in the area. The companies have an eight-year research and exploitation license in two offshore blocks, located south and south-west of Crete.

Geoservices company Shearwater GeoServices announced on Tuesday, June 25, that it will conduct a 4D seismic survey by Total E&P Danmark A/S (“Total”) this summer. Specifically, the area surveyed will be the Tyra, Tyra SE, and Roar fields, which are located offshore Denmark.

Anadarko Petroleum sanctioned its Mozambican liquefied natural gas project, Mozambique LNG. According to Wood Mackenzie the company is developing Mozambique's first onshore LNG facility, initially consisting of two LNG trains with a total nameplate capacity of 12.88 million tonnes per annum (mmtpa).

Total has agreed with Toshiba to take over its portfolio of LNG. It includes a 20-year agreement for 2.2 million tonnes per annum of LNG from Freeport LNG train 3 in Texas and the gas transportation agreements on the pipelines feeding the terminal. Train 3 of the Freeport LNG plant is planned to start commercial operations by the second quarter of 2020.
