The organisations along port of Amsterdam have collaborated into creating a Brexit campaign website 'www.getreadyforbrexit.eutogether'. Via this website, exportes and importers can see what it is needed in order to transmit their cargo to and from the UK. The website is the starting signal of the international information campaign to guide the entire logistics chain in the run-up to the Brexit.  

In connection with work on the technical installations of the new Botlek bridge, several road sections at the Botlek bridge, which is the hazardous substances route, have to be temporarily closed for all traffic. The port highlighted that the closure may extend longer or stop shorter than necessary. Also, in case of bad weather conditions, the work will be postponed.

According to port of Amsterdam's press release, the port reached a new transhipment record in 2018 with its overall transhipment reaching 82.3 million tonnes, in comparison to the 81.3 million tonnes in 2017. The port along with other ports in the North Sea Canal Area, the total transhipment amounted to 101.8 million tonnes in 2018. 

Travel Leaders Group conducted a survey among 1,000 North American travel advisors, revealing that Scotland and the Netherlands moved up among the top five upcoming European destinations. As for the international cruise category, the Caribbean remained at the top spot.

HFO for sea-going vessels does not comply with European rules for chemicals, while there is insufficient report of what the fuel contains. The Netherlands will impose a nationwide degasification ban for inland navigation vessels. The Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Van Nieuwenhuizen wants the degasification ban to be introduced in the Netherlands by mid-2020. The degassing ban must provide about 95% less emissions by 2023.

On 23 January 2018, the Dutch House of Representatives deals with the Merchant Navy Protection Act. The proposal allows the hiring of private security, in case a Vessel Protection Detachment of the armed forces is not possible, and concerns only the waters near Somalia, which is considered as a High Risk Area. 

Zeeland Seaports and Ghent Port Company signed a merger agreement on Friday 8 December, as all stakeholders agreed with the merger. The name of the cross-border merger port will be North Sea Port. The signing took place on a ship that symbolically sailed from Ghent across the Dutch border in the direction of Terneuzen.
