Two more electric big rigs to operate at Port of Oakland

The Californian Port of Oakland is to acquire another two electric big rigs by October 2019, as GSC Logistics wishes to discover if zero-emission tractors can haul cargo containers over highways. The company said it is acquiring two 13-ton electric trucks with assistance from state grants.

MSC to upgrade cargo systems to reduce emissions

Cargotec’s MacGregor, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company and Guangzhou Wenchong Dockyard have signed a contract aiming to upgrade the cargo systems on six 16,000 TEU container ships, which MSC owns and operates. The Cargo Boost orders will be booked into MacGregor’s second quarter 2019 order intake and the upgrades will be applied during drydocking in 2020.

Port of LA already meets 2023 emission targets

Port of Los Angeles has seen an unprecedented 60% drop in NOx emissions compared to 2005, their lowest level to date, according to the Port’s 2017 Inventory of Air Emissions released last week. The inventory also shows the Port container volume reached an all-time high of 9.34 million TEUs through 2017.
