DP World announced the acquisition of an additional stake in DP World Australia from Gateway Infrastructure Investments (Gateway) and other financial investors, valuing DP World Australia at an enterprise value of approximately A$ 1.4 billion (US$ 997 million).

Port of Hamburg’s terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG announced the expansion of its rail terminal. Namely, two extra tracks and two new rail gantry cranes have been added to the rail terminal at the Container Terminal Burchardkai. Now the rail terminal has ten tracks, instead of eight, while the longest trains permitted can be processed on every track.

For terminals in the world’s biggest port cities, adapting to the mega container ships constitutes a major challenge. Namely, according to Jan-Olaf Probst, Director Business Development DNV GL, terminals must have the capability to deal with peak workloads, and handle large numbers of containers in a short period of time.

UPM will participate in the international public tendering process in the port of Montevideo organized by Uruguay. Cosco Shipping Ports Limited announced in its statement that COSCO-HIT Terminals (Hong Kong) Limited, Asia Container Terminals Limited, Hongkong International Terminals Limited and Modern Terminals Limited entered into a Hong Kong Seaport Joint Operating Alliance Agreement. The collaboration aims to efficiently manage and operate the Kwai Tsing Port in Hong Kong, the 'Combined Terminal Facilities'.

Thailand's former Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, has been appointed as the chairwoman of Shantou International Container Terminal (SICT), operated by Hutchison Ports and located at China's eastern Guangdong province. 

BAM International along with JJM Construction and Manson Construction have received the full order to build the new Rio Tinto BC Works Terminal A on behalf of LNG Canada. The project will incorporate a 320 x 60 metre terminal for the Rio Tinto BC Works, and a berth for cargo barges.

Ocean Alliance with Yang Ming and major terminal operators initiated a blockchain consortium in order to establish a digital platform. Τhe pilot project will consist an application which will allow shippers to digitize and organize their dangerous goods documents and automatically connect with relevant parties to streamline the approval process. The application is scheduled to be available in December 2018.

The Port of Valencia has released specifications for the construction and operation of a new container terminal in the Northern Extension of the Port of Valencia, through an administrative concession. The terminal is expected to have been built at the port of Valencia by 2050.

The Port of Corpus Christi entered into an agreement with Carlyle to develop a crude oil export terminal on Harbor Island, to connect the increasing crude oil production in the US with global markets. The terminal will be the first onshore location in the US able of providing export service to fully-laden VLCCs.
