A group within the STM project was formed to develop a real-time Maritime Safety Index. Based on maritime expert judgement, ship traffic is assessed with regards to safe navigation. In order to capture their assessment of what is considered to be “safe”, multiple various traffic situations in both open and constrained waters are graphically presented in an on-line survey.

A new research by DNV GL shows oil and gas companies seeking to rebalance business portfolios and reorganizing for a new era. Jason Stefanatos, DNV GL reveals the key findings of a recent survey conducted by DNV GL among the Greek ship operators which examined the perception of safety in the Greek shipping community. Once the BWM Convention enters into force, all ships of 400 gross tonnage and above to which the BWM Convention applies should have International Ballast Water Management Certificate for the BWM Convention on board. Accordingly, ClassNK has launched to issue the Certificate following initial survey subject to the authorization from administration.
