The US Navy and maritime forces from 10 Indo-Pacific partner countries started the 18th iteration of Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) in Singapore, August 19. The goal of the SEACAT exercise is to gather regional partner nations to engage in "real world, real time" training designed to enhance partner nation ability to communicate, coordinate and counter illegal smuggling and piracy.

Indonesia's Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) has arrested an unregistered vessel carrying nearly 100 tons of illegal diesel in the waters of Batam, Riau Islands, on Monday. The Bakamla patrol vessel 'KN Belut Laut' caught the wooden vessel off Rempang.

The US Coast Guard published a video on July 18, chasing a smuggling boat that was transferring illegal drugs; The USCG members found 2,300 pounds of cocaine. In the video, the suspects are seen throwing some of their cargo in the sea, but the coast guard members manage to shalt the boat before they dispose all of the bales.

The video above shows the USCG Cutter Munro crew members that chase down a self-propelled semi-submersible suspected drug smuggling vessel (SPSS) on June 18, operating in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean. 

On Thursday, the Nigerian Navy handed over nine suspected pirates to the Interpol unit of the Nigeria Police, for allegedly possessing firearms and suspected crude oil within the Nigerian maritime domain. The suspected pirates included three Greeks, an American and five Nigerians.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) seized a tanker on charges of fuel smuggling, in the Strait of Hormuz. According to an IRGC commander, the tanker tried to smuggle three million gallons of fuel out of Iran. IRGC commander Rear Adm. Ali Reza Tangsiri noted that it is the first time ever that Iranian officials have seized this kind of amount.

UK police has arrested a total of twelve people in Madeira on 24 March, as part of an investigation into drug smuggling on a cruise ship. The twelve individuals were detained after the cruise ship MSC Opera arrived into Funchal from the Caribbean.

A multi-agency examination of imported shipping containers, led by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), netted 1,185 pounds of cocaine at the Port of Philadelphia, Tuesday.
