PSA Singapore International released its 2018 operations review concerning Southeast Asia volumes reaching 8.9% in 2018, Northeast Asia handled a volume of 20 million TEUs with 9% growth, Middle East South Asia registered 13% year-on-year growth, European and the Mediterranean, and the Americas.

PSA International, a Singapore-based port operator,  has finalised an agreement to take over the Halterm Container Terminal in the Port of Halifax, Canada, and multipurpose Penn Terminals in Pennsylvania, USA. Yet, the company didn't provide any financial details related to the transactions.

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA Singapore) announced that it temporarily suspended Southernpec (Singapore) PTE LTD’S bunker craft operator license. As long as the suspension is valid, Southernpec will not be allowed to operate as a bunker craft operator in the Port of Singapore. Explaining the decision, MPA Singapore said that it came from an enforcement check.

Pavilion Energy has conducted the first commercial ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in the Port of Singapore. The operation included a reload of 2,000m3 of LNG onto a small-scale tanker at the newly-modified Secondary Jetty of the Singapore LNG Terminal, followed by a ship-to-ship transfer to the receiving heavy-lift commercial vessel.

In its weekly piracy report for 23-29 April, ReCAAP ISC informed of two actual incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia. Both incidents occurred in the westbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Singapore Strait on 24 and 25 April.

Nanyang Technological University, DNV GL, and Shell have launched a competition to attract ideas in order to cut the cost of equipping an LNG fuel gas system to an existing ocean-going vessel. The 'Low-Cost LNG Retrofit (LCLR) Challenge' aims to to help shipping companies adopt cleaner fuels and reduce harmful emissions.

MPA Singapore issued an alert on the mooring and unmooring of vessels that will be carried out one at a time during daylight hours between 0700hrs to 1800hrs.The procedures will take place from April 18 to October 17, 2019. The location of the mooring and unmooring will be at the Tuas View Reclamation Project Area.
