A man linked to a case involving 340,000 tonnes of stolen gas oil worth more than $200 million - the largest ever in Singapore - has been jailed for two and a half years. Dang Van Hanh has been jailed after pleading guilty to have received 5,600 metric tonnes of marine gasoil (MGO) stolen from Shell's Pulau Bukom refinery.

Xinhua-and Baltic Exchange issued their International Shipping Centre Development (ISCD) Index 2019, placing Singapore at the top for the sixth consecutive year. Compared to 2014-2019, results are relatively stable. The report showed a decreasing gap between Singapore and London. 

Two bulk carriers, 'Spring Snow' and 'Klima', collided on 4 July within Singapore port waters. The incident took place while the two vessels were performing bunkering operations. The damages to 'Spring Snow' are not known, while 'Klima' sustained hull breach in the cargo hold area, as well as water ingress. 

DNV GL has been contracted by Singapore’s national water agency, PUB, as technical advisor for the 50 MW floating solar photovoltaic (PV) project at the Tengeh Reservoir in Singapore. When completed, the floating solar project will be one of the largest single floating solar systems globally. 

MPA Singapore published a circular informing the industry on the application of BWM.2/Circ.70 on 'Guidance for the commissioning testing of ballast water management systems' for Singapore-registered ships. The target of the commissioning test is to verify that the mechanical, physical, chemical and biological processes of the installed BWMS are working efficiently.

The Singapore Shipping Association issued the 'IMO Sulphur Cap 2020 Readiness Plan' for Singapore’s shipping community. The document provides an overview of the key requirements of the IMO 2020 global sulphur cap, describes the major preparatory milestones in the lead up to January 2020, and presents key compliance measures.

As data from the Supreme Court of Singapore shows, a vessel was arrested on June 24, at the Eastern Anchorage. The arrest took place after a local law company took action. As of now the reason of the arrest is not known. The Focal Investigation & Security Agency Pte Ltd was responsible for the arrest, which took place at the Eastern Anchorage.

Singaporean Kim Heng Marine and Oilfield (KHMO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Taiwan-based Hung Hua Construction (HHC) to collaborate on the offshore wind sector.

During her opening address on the enforcement of the 2020 sulphur cap, MPA Singapore's Chief Executive, Quah Ley Hoon, said that vessel will be chosen for inspection according to a risk matrix. The matrix will consider the compliance option of the ship and if a Fuel Oil Non-Availability Report has been submitted.
