The new scenario on the Surface Warfare Officer School bridge simulator takes radar data, ship tracks and other open source information and recreates for SWOS students the experience of being on the bridge of the destroyer when it collided with ACX Crystal.

The Port of Tilbury’s award-winning Logistics Training Academy in cooperation with the Tilbury on the Thames Trust welcomed the arrival of a new ‘fully immersive’ training simulator as part of the ‘Attention to Logistics’ training programme.

Simwave B.V. and Kongsberg Digital have completed the Site Acceptance Test of one of the largest maritime simulation suites ever delivered. This means that the new Simwave Maritime Center of Excellence in Barendrecht, Rotterdam is now fully operational. 

Kongsberg Digital has received DNV-GL statements of compliance for two Engine Room Simulator models, designed to provide training on the K-Sim Engine simulator platform. The certification, based on the requirements of STCW Convention, Regulation I/12, was awarded to the DEDF Cruise Ferry and L11 MAN 6S70 ME SCC K-Sim Engine models in December 2017.

Robert Gordon University, in cooperation with funding partners The Oil and Gas Technology Centre, KCA Deutag and Drilling Systems, with technical support from Baker Hughes, a GE Company, has established a simulator, which along with its software are world's first, and focuses on well-plugging and abandonment.

Rolls-Royce, the Norwegian University of Technology Science, research organisation SINTEF Ocean, and classification society DNV GL have signed a memorandum of understanding, with the aim of creating an open source digital platform for use in the development of new ships.

Aiming to implement smart solutions for a safe and sustainable shipping, the EU-funded EfficienSea2 project has finished a full-scale simulation of a variety of e-Navigation solutions. The simulations involved 8 navigators and took four days, at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, focusing on the human factors in e-Navigation.

The European Maritime Simulator Network will be used to validate the STM concepts and services, running the largest civil simulation test ever, with 29 manned bridges in 10 centres. The purpose is to reflect the STM concept, to validate and evaluate the findings and to give input to various hypotheses and the Formal Safety Assessment developed by other activities within the project.
