The German city of Duisburg will soon receive simulator technology for inland waterway navigation. The simulator will be provided by Wärtsilä , and will consist of seven full mission bridges in two locations within Duisburg.

In the last quarter of 2019, Wärtsilä signed a contract with Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) in Finland for the delivery of navigation simulator and specific mathematical models, what are called to be used as an ''essential enabler'' for testing  autonomous vessels.

The German Institute for Wind Energy Systems, Fraunhofer IWES recently informed its development of a mobile grid simulator which goals to advance the integration of offshore wind farms into the grid. Namely, the Mobil-Grid-CoP test facility aims to verify current and future grid system services.

Kongsberg Digital along with the Norwegian Sea Rescue Society (NSRS), shake their hands and agreed a deal so as to deliver a new K-Sim Safety Advanced Fire Fighting Simulator (AFFS) to be installed at the NSRS's Horten-based training center in Norway.

Wärtsilä will supply an LNG bunkering vessel simulator to Kasi Group, a provider of integrated marine solutions. The simulator will be used to provide hands-on training to those who will be operating LNG bunkering services.

Although fire fighting training provides basic (basic fire fighting, STCW VI I/1) and advanced (advanced fire fighting STCW VI/3) knowledge to crew members onboard, when such emergency occurs in real life, this knowledge may be proved insufficient. Malaysia-based Kasi Group announced the launch of an LNG bunkering simulator in the country. According to the company's Executive Director it will be Malaysia's first LNG bunkering simulator.

A £7m new marine simulator centre has been officially opened at Solent University in Southampton. Presenting the new simulator, UK Chamber of Shipping president Sir Michael Bibby said it should play a vital role in delivering UK's Maritime 2050 policy objectives. The centre is able to simulate more than 400 different ships and currently features about 140 ports worldwide.

Maritime Crew Resource Management training is of outmost importance for the shipping industry; it focuses on Bridge Resource Management and Engine Room Resource Management including performance monitoring, drills and exercises with simulators or videos and feedback procedures.

Kongsberg Digital has signed a contract to deliver two new K-Sim Full Mission Bridge simulators at the Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Watson Bridge Simulator Facility in Watsons Bay, Sydney, Australia. The project is added to Kongsberg’s service delivery contracts with the RAN, which includes multiple shiphandling and engine room simulators delivered at training facilities across the country.
