The Port of Kiel commissioned Siemens to build Germany’s largest shore power system to date. With a power of 16 megavolt amperes (MVA), the Siharbor solution will supply two ships at the same time with certified eco-power, for the first time.

ESVAGT, Siemens Gamesa and Ørsted are cooperating to create a drone-based solution for the delivery of spare parts and tools from vessel to offshore wind turbine. The project 'Operative package deliveries by drones' is sponsored by the European Regional Development Fund and runs until June 2020.

Spanish wind power solutions provider Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) announced it has begun construction of the world’s largest wind turbine blade test stand in Aalborg, Denmark. This R&D investment seeks to enable the company to reduce the risk of technical issues surrounding wind turbines. 

The University of Hull has joined with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to offer an MSc Masters Degree Apprenticeship in Offshore Wind Energy Engineering through the University’s Department of Engineering. Formally beginning in September 2019, the initial group of 10 students will get practical experience through placements at three different SGRE locations in the UK. 

DNV Gl announced that it awards Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) the project certificate for its Nissum Bredning offshore wind power park located in Thyborøn, in waters of north-western Denmark. The wind park consists of 4 turbines with an installed capacity of 28MW. 

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. signed a Cooperation Agreement to take part in the Charter of Trust on Cybersecurity. This agreement comes after the signing of the LOI on February 19. This makes MHI the first Asian member company as the 17th partner in the Global Cyber Security Initiative. The Charter of Trust was  announced at the Munich Security Conference in 2018, launched by Siemens.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries signed a letter of intent to enter the Charter of Trust for Cyber-security in Tokyo. The membership will be finalized by the end of September, 2019. As the 17th Charter partner, MHI will become the first Asian company to join the global cyber-security initiative. Initiated by Siemens, the Charter of Trust calls for binding rules and standards to build trust in cyber-security and boost digitalization.

Siemens will supply a lithium-ion battery solution for offshore drilling rig. With this, West Mira will become the world's first drilling rig to operate using a hybrid battery power solution. The battery aspires to reduce fuel consumption by 12% and CO2 emissions by 15%.

The Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate, through the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme has allocated 3.8m EUR to a consortium, to present suction bucket technology with focus on industrialising suction bucket technology. The overall target is to limit the cost of foundation construction and installation by 40%.

The new gas turbine arrived at the Port of King’s Lynn onboard the general cargo vessel MV Eastern Vanquish. Because the port is close to the power station, the port will enable a natural flow of goods from incoming vessels to their ultimate destination, reducing the distance travelled by cargo and reducing transport costs.
