Specifically, KHI highlights that its dual-fuel engine is capable of using both marine diesel oil and LPG as fuel, while reduces fuel consumption, following the NOx Tier 3 regulations.

Japanese firms Osaka Gas and Daihatsu Diesel received an Approval in Principle from ClassNK for their joint project on an LPG Reformer for marine engines. This was the first AIP granted in Japan for such equipment. The LPG Reformer is designed to convert LPG into synthetic methane gas equivalent to the kind found in LNG.

In its July edition of Safety Flashes, IMCA describes a case of a fire onboard due to main engine turbocharger lagging. The probable cause was namely traced to inappropriate material and workmanship in the replacement lagging work.
