Gas natural Fenosa and Baleària officially launched Spain’s first natural gas engine for passenger boats, in the Port of Barcelona. Both companies have fostered the development and installation of the auxiliary engine and a 30 m3 tank of LNG on the ferry Abel Matutes, which consumes natural gas in its manoeuvres and for its electricity production while it is docked, instead of its usual fuel.

MOL announced the completion, on February 10, of this year's Project Based Learning program at the University of Tokyo. MOL provided the theme "Application of bio fuels for diesel engines on ocean shipping vessels" and support throughout the process of defining and solving tasks in research conducted by the students.

Wärtsilä announced that it signed a service agreement with PGS Geophysical AS, according to which, Wärtsilä will be the service supplier for engines and other equipment. Under the agreement, Wärtsilä will take care of the maintenance of engines and propulsion systems on board PGS’s fleet of 8 seismic vessels, securing maximum uptime, as well as safe and economic operations.
