The Blue Sky Maritime Coalition (BSMC) in conjunction with the Vanderbilt University Climate Change Initiative has released a new report which highlights the identified pathways and approaches to optimize technologies and operations to accelerate GHG emissions reductions in the maritime sector.

Deltamarin and GTT today announced that they have received Approval in Principle (AiP) from the classification society ClassNK for the 12,500 m3 LNG dual fuel VLCC design.

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), MTI, and Elomatic Oy have completed the concept design phase of a new capesize bulk carrier and a very large crude oil tanker (VLCC) in a project that aims to build an LNG-fueled vessel that can be efficiently converted to an ammonia-fueled vessel, or ARLFV, an ammonia-fuel ready LNG-fueled vessel.

Aurelia Green Ship Concept Design has unveiled a new design with 100% hydrogen propulsion, which holds Certificate of Approval in Principle by RINA . The new design concept is the ACD01 1000, a RORO vessel for transporting ro-ro cargo, with electric propulsion using highly compressed H2 as fuel.

LR has awarded Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) with Design Approval for its ammonia (NH3) dual fuel 300,000 DWT very large crude carrier (VLCC).

During Gastech 2022, Schulte Group presented its next generation design for an LNG bunker vessel. The shipping group has used its experience as an LNG bunker vessel owner and operator to develop a new innovative LBV design that is easy-to-use, fulfils present and known future requirements for at-sea LNG bunker deliveries and reduces last-mile costs.

Damen Shipyards Group has unveiled a comprehensive new design for its popular Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) range, firstly introduced in 2004.  However, last year the decision was taken to completely overhaul the range and the result is a series of vessels that, while looking familiar, deliver the very latest in excellence in operations, sustainability and technology.

Approval in Principle (AIP) was given by Korean Register (KR) for the design of a new ammonia-fuel ready vessel on 5 September, during Gastech 2022. The Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC), jointly developed by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and KR, will be capable of using ammonia as a fuel as well as carrying it as bulk cargo.

At Gastech 2022, DNV awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MHIMSB) for their design of a 50,000 CBM class liquefied CO2 (LCO2) carrier. Furthermore, DNV awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for their new liquefied CO2 (LCO2) carrier design.
