Travel Leaders Group conducted a survey among 1,000 North American travel advisors, revealing that Scotland and the Netherlands moved up among the top five upcoming European destinations. As for the international cruise category, the Caribbean remained at the top spot.

A storm called Ali is currently hitting Scotland. The storm detached the cruise ship 'Nautica' from its moorings in Greenock, Scotland. The vessel drifted away from the dock on September 19. 'Nautica' experienced strong winds and got detached from the dock. Now all guests, about 500, are stuck at sea but safe.

Oil and gas sales value in Scotland has risen by 18.2% between 2016-17 and 2017-18, according to figures by the Scottish government. The figures also show that despite the slight decrease of 1.7% in the latest year, production of oil and gas remains 23.1% higher than the level recorded in 2014-15.

Scotland chose Dales Voe in Shetland as the best location for an ultra-deep water port. This aims to improve the supply chain, as it would be able to win more large scale decommissioning projects. This location would have the best and most cost effective location for decommissioning work.

The Government of Scotland allocated an additional £5 million to the supply chain in Scotland to enhance the economic benefit from the decommissioning of North Sea infrastructure. This was announced by the Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands Paul Wheelhouse.

The Aberdeen Bay wind farm, or EOWDC, is Scotland's largest wind farm that will produce electricity to about 80,000 British households every year. The eleven wind turbines, two 8.8 MW and nine 8.4 MW, have the largest turbine capacity in commercial operation in the world. One single rotor lap can provide a British household with electricity for a full day.

The Scottish Government has allocated up to £2 million of funding to promote innovation in the offshore wind sector and reduce development costs. Under this funding, grants have been given to Carbon Trust’s Offshore Wind Accelerator, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and Energy Skills Partnership.

Port Glasgow based Ferguson Marine along with the University of St Andrews will construct the world's first hydrogen ferry, called 'HySeas III'. The development of the vessel is expected to cost around €12.6 million, and will begin constructions on 1 July 2018. The vessel’s fuel will be produced from renewable electricity.

The final turbine was installed on Saturday at Vattenfall's European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre, off Scotland, which is believed to be the country's largest offshore wind test and demonstration facility. EOWDC will be able to produce more than 70% of Aberdeen’s domestic electricity demand and annually displace 134,128 tonnes of CO2. 

The offshore wind turbines off the coast of Aberdeen show a change in direction for the city, its energy mix and its offshore industry, the UK Chamber of Shipping said. The turbines are part of the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre, which is being installed in Aberdeen Bay.
