Intercargo to examine future amendments to the IMSBC Code

Kostas G. Gkonis, Secretary General, Intercargo, says the 2016 topics and concerns continue in 2017, therefore, liquefaction remains a major problem for dry bulk shipping as well. Dr. Gkonis said that the Association is looking into future amendments to the IMSBC Code and plans to develop a new guide for masters on cargoes that may liquefy to increase awareness on that important topic.

BIMCO to release Global Best Management Practice in 2017

Philip Tinsley, Maritime Security Manager, BIMCO, revealed to SAFETY4SEA plans for 2017 with the aim to enhance maritime security. Mr Tinsley said that BIMCO will continue to develop cyber security awareness throughout the industry by updating its cyber-related guidelines. Also, the release of a Global Best Management Practice document has been scheduled in 2017 as a complimentary on BMP4.

New Year’s Resolutions from ABS
