Miltos Synefias, Technical Director, Pleiades Shipping Agents S.A responded to GREEN4SEA by sharing his concerns over the hot green shipping issues that industry will have to tackle during 2017.

Andrew Marshall, CEO, Coldharbour has responded to GREEN4SEA questions regarding ballast water developments by providing a brief recap of the current regulatory status and also giving advice to ship owners on how to take the correct decision for their BWTS.

Simon Bennett, Director Policy & External Relations, International Chamber of Shipping says that 2017 promises further regulatory uncertainty and that many issues will have to wait one more year.

Stamatis Bourboulis, General Manager, Euronav, responded to GREEN4SEA questions regarding the key issues that shipping industry will address during next year. Mr Bourboulis considered that alternatives for compliance with the 2020 Sulfur limits along with the effective implementation of the BWM Convention will be top priorities for the industry in 2017.

Antonis Trakakis, Technical Manager, Arista Shipping, responded to GREEN4SEA questions regarding company's plans and aspirations for the next year. Mr Trakakis said that Arista Shipping, being the leader of a joint development project called Project ‘Forward’, will commit further to adopting LNG as fuel to commercial vessels in 2017 as well.

Kostas G. Vlachos, Chief Operating Officer, CMM has responded to GREEN4SEA questions regarding the progress made in environmental issues within the 2016 stressing the need for a cooperation between EU and IMO in order to find a sound solution for the issue of shipping emissions as soon as possible. Mr Vlachos highlights that IMO should be the only one proper forum where a world wide industry matter can be discussed in proper way for reaching a sound solution for the shipping industry.

Christiana Prekezes, Executive Coordinator, HELMEPA responded to GREEN4SEA questions by disclosing initiatives that the Association has in store for 2017 with the aim to promote further stakeholders' awareness for a sustainable marine environment.

Jad Mouawad, Mouawad Consulting AS, says that the shipping industry must become a leader in green technology by voluntarily working on reducing its environmental footprint. However he says, this is a far reaching scenario taking into account that 2017 is expected to be a continuation of the regulatory trend of 2016.

Stelios N. Mavrelos, Technical Director, Capital Ship Management Corp., responded to GREEN4SEA questions by addressing the biggest marine environmental challenges within 2017 for ship managers. Mr Mavrelos notes that the compliance of the BWM convention will be definitely the hot potato along with the reduction of CO2, NOx and SOx shipping emissions following IMO decisions at MEPC 70 meeting.

Michalis Pantazopoulos , Senior Vice-President, LISCR (Hellas), has responded to GREEN4SEA questions making an assessment of the progress made within 2016 in both BWM Convention and the regulations regarding shipping emissions reduction. Mr. Pantazopoulos explains how Liberia has set the example towards a greener industry in 2017 and beyond.
