The UK P&I Club refers to an incident onboard in which a crew member fell down to the tank top, sustaining serious injuries. The Club highlights lessons learned and draws operators’ attention to performing work aloft at sea properly supervised and risk assessed.

The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency issued a bulletin to inform operators that it has observed an issue with fire doors manufactured by COSMO Co. Ltd. In particular, it has come to light that the insulation in these doors is missing from the upper part, sides and bottom.

The Managers of the American P&I Club conducted 106 condition surveys, during the 2016 CY. Ninety-one of the surveys resulted in deficiencies, while fifteen surveys resulted in no deficiencies noted. Forty-six per cent of the surveys were conducted on dry cargo vessels and tankers accounted for thirty-five per cent of total surveys.

The system captures thousands of data points and provides real-time analytics for 28 distinct parameters for navigational safety from each ship, aims to optimize efficiency and fleet performance.
