The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping signed a new agreement with the Maritime Administration of Cyprus, expanding the scope of authority delegated to the Russian Maritime Register for the inspection of ships flying the flag of Cyprus. 

The Russian Register of Shipping published the new edition of the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (2019). As compared to the previous edition of 2016, the Rules contain some amendments taking into account the new international requirements.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal law on amendments to the merchant shipping code to pave the way for the formation of a Russian open register of ships. The register is anticipated for registration of marine vessels owned by foreign individuals and legal entities.

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping announced that a new revision of the 'Rules for Planning and Execution of Marine Operations' is now effective following analysis of research results of Part IV “Safety Assessment”, held in 2016.

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping says that updated Recommendations on Condition Assessment Program (CAP) are now available. The new version contains detailed description of the assessment criteria of all components of ship’s hull structures, machinery and systems, criteria of the CAP rating scale and descriptive notations based on the survey results.

The RS has announced that it has completed the research on the preparation of proposals as regards procedures for the development of the Polar Water Operational Manual (PWOM) for the RS-classed ships. The manual shall be available on board in compliance with the Polar Code coming into force on January, 1, 2017.

The first Polar Ship Certificate was issued by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS). The document was released by Murmansk Branch on 22 December, 2016 in the port of Murmansk to the tanker Shturman Albanov, owned by SCF Group.

A new section - Part VIII “Containers from polymer composite materials” will be introduced to the Rules for Containers of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

RS has approved the research results in the development of a new revision of Part IV “Safety Assessment”, Rules for Planning and Execution of Marine Operations, where methods of quantitative risk assessment and risk management will be implemented.

RS has developed technical requirements for ships, which will be periodically grounded in operation – NAABSA (Not Always Afloat But Safely Aground Ships).
