The livestock carrier "QUEEN HIND" overturned in Midia Port, Romania on 24th November with approximately 14,600 sheep and 22 crewmembers on board. Rescuers of the military, the police and some divers teamed up and made their efforts to face this tragedy. Until now, all of the vessel's personnel along with 33 ships have been rescued, with the rest feared to be drowned.

The Phoenix Reisen river cruise ship Prinzessin Isabella collided with an unidentified Panama-flagged cargo ship in Tulcea waters, Romania, Danube, in the early morning of Saturday, 5 October. The cargo vessel which was proceeding upstream en route to Galati, severely damaged the cruise ship with 165 passengers on board and was sailing downstream to Tulcea at the time of the collision.

The European Commission announced that, under the EU State aid rules, it will provide a €27.4 million investment aid to Romania's Port of Galați, the largest sea-river port in the country. The overall investment will cost €89.9 million.
