Dubai Maritime City Authority is taking part as an exhibitor at Norshipping, Norway, shortly after Dubai's recognition in Menon Business report, as one of the Top 10 global maritime capital cities. Experts also predict that the city will continue to grow in stature and will become the world's 6th most important maritime centre by 2022.

ABS has updated its Guide for Fire-Fighting Systems for On-Deck Cargo Areas of Container Carriers, expanding the guidance to the existing container ship fleet. The guide aims to support owners in navigating risks, based on the unique characteristics of each container load, location of the container on the vessel and various firefighting spray patterns.

AMSA has compiled the following table to provide latest updates regarding the designated Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas (as of May 2017). According to IMO, a PSSA should meet three key elements: the area must have recognised heritage or scientific attributes; the recognised attributes of the area must be at risk and there must be associated protective measures adopted by IMO.

A new WWF-Canada guide, aiming to help mariners in the Hudson Strait to identify and avoid marine mammals, is being unveiled at a Canadian Coast Guard and Transport Canada meeting in Montreal. The Hudson Strait Mariner’s Guide is made up of two large posters to be hung on the ship’s bridge: a chart that will help mariners identify mammals and maps of marine mammal habitat in both summer and winter.

Each year, the IEA’s Tracking Clean Energy Progress report examines developments across a range of clean energy sectors and technologies. For the shipping industry, IEA estimates that ‘’implementing IMO’s final GHG strategy only by 2023 will have very little impact on the possibility of meeting 2025 2°C targets (2DS)’’.
