The Netherlands to release its largest floating solar farm

The Central Government Real Estate Agency (RVB), Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) and the Port of Rotterdam Authority plan to construct a new floating solar farm in Rotterdam's western port area. Therefore, they seek for the ideal participant to operate the new facility, which is reported to be the largest of its kind to be ever constructed in the Netherlands. The partners announced that they will organise a market consultation on May 8.

A new paper called 'Sailing on Solar', commissioned by Environmental Defense Fund Europe and developed by Ricardo, showcases a vision of how international shipping can meet its target of at least halving emissions by 2050, while at the same time helping developing nations leverage the emerging clean energy economy. The paper focuses on green ammonia produced from surplus renewable electricity.

SOHAR Freezone businesses to be powered by solar photovoltaic projects

SOHAR Port and Freezone recently entered into a land lease agreement with Shell Development Oman, in order to tap into the Sultanate’s renewable energy potential. This means that businesses in the SOHAR Freezone could be powered by solar photovoltaic projects instead of gas. SOHAR will allocate 600-hectares of land for solar plants under development, with capacities varying from 10MW up to 40MV.
