SOHAR Port and Freezone recently entered into a land lease agreement with Shell Development Oman, in order to tap into the Sultanate’s renewable energy potential. This means that businesses in the SOHAR Freezone could be powered by solar photovoltaic projects instead of gas. SOHAR will allocate 600-hectares of land for solar plants under development, with capacities varying from 10MW up to 40MV.
Speaking during the Port of Esbjerg’s annual meeting, Chairman of the Board Flemming N. Enevoldsen, informed that the wind business is flourishing. If Denmark succeeds in seizing the opportunity, the wind hub of the North Sea may prove to be the green equivalent of the Norwegian oil adventure, CEO of Energinet, Thomas Egebo, noted. In addition, more Ro-Ro cargo and more ship calls mean that the Port has delivered a satisfactory profit for 2018.
As part of its environmental sustainability, the US Port of San Diego said it will soon begin infrastructure improvements to support future installation of a renewable, solar-powered microgrid at the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal, one of the Port’s two marine cargo terminals. The microgrid is expected to help the port improve its air quality.
