No incident of armed robbery against ships in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 4 - 10 July.

ReCAAP ISC Executive Director, Krishnaswamy Natarajan argues that the increase in sea robbery incidents in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore area (SOMS) is likely due to the economic situation in some of the littoral States, partially due to pandemic which caused financial and economic difficulties.

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia (both CAT 4 incidents) were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 27 June - 3 July.

Four incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia (two CAT 31 and two CAT 42) were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 20 and 26 June. 

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia (three CAT 2 and two CAT 4 incidents) were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between  13 – 19 June 2023.

Five incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia (three CAT 31 and two CAT 42 incidents) were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 6 - 12 June 2023.

ReCAAP ISC informed that five incidents were reported on board ships while underway in the eastbound lane of the Singapore Strait, from 3 – 13 June 2023.

Two incidents (one CAT 2 incident and one CAT 3 incident) of armed robbery against ships in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 30 May - 5 June 2023. 

One CAT 4 incident of armed robbery against ships in Asia was reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 23 – 29 May.

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia (both CAT 3 incidents) were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 16 - 22 May.
