Posidonia 2020 announced their official cancellation. The major shipping event was originally planned for June 2020 and was subsequently postponed to October 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the escalating challenges that have risen because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Posidonia 2020 will be postponed from the 1st to 5th June 2020 to the 26th to 30th October 2020.

Once again this year’s agenda was full with meetings, agreements and important announcements for the maritime community. In this photo recap we have picked key moments that captivated industry’s interest in 2018.

The organisers of Posidonia, the world’s most prestigious maritime exhibition, have confirmed a 15 percent growth in size for this year’s event, as the committed total of over 40.000 square metres of exhibition floor space together with a record 40 conferences and new sporting events make the 2016 edition the biggest in the event’s almost 50 year-long history.

S4S: What was the biggest Safety & Environmental protection improvement over the last 10 years? How did it change the industry? M.F: As a classification society, we had big improvements and important steps in rules and regulatory developments. Certainly, the balance between safety and environment became much more important than before.  We had actually an important step in the approval of the Common Structural Rules which were approved by the IACS last December. Also, we have important works going on in the safety over the container ships and a lot of issues going on in environmental parts with several regulations coming up and lot of work done by the various class societies individually and also IACS for implementation of these regulations.   S4S: Do you realize the growing momentum for investing in eco -ships? What are the relevant services and offerings you may provide? M.F: Eco- ship has been a new venture in ship building and in the order book of new buildings.
