Jacksonville, the biggest container port in Florida, achieved record volumes in containers, vehicles and overall tonnage throughout the fiscal year 2019. The port moved more than 1.3 million TEU containers, representing a 5% growth than the previous year.

Dubai-based port operator DP World informed of a third quarter decline in cargo handled across its global portfolio, with volumes in Dubai falling for a sixth consecutive quarter. Releasing figures for the third quarter of 2019 on Tuesday, the port operator said it handled 18 million TEU containers in its ports, 1.6% down compared to the same period one year ago.

The Panama Canal announced the closing of its 2019 fiscal year with a record tonnage of 469 million Panama Canal tons, a 6.2% increase compared to FY2018. This exceeds the 450.7 million tons projection for 2019, as well as the record tonnage of 442 million tons registered in the previous fiscal year.

Sharing figures for the month of August, the US Port of Long Beach said it saw the fifth-busiest August in its 108-year history, handling a total of 663,992 TEUs. However, this represents a 2.3% decrease in its cargo movement compared to August 2018. 

In August, the Port of Salalah, Oman’s major regional gateway port, recorded the highest productivity ever achieved in the region. With an annual capacity of around 5 million TEU, the port set a record this month, delivering 412.97 Port Moves per Hour (PMPH) on vessel Cap San Tainaro.

Sharing figures for the first half of 2019, Finland's Port of Helsinki informed that its passenger numbers have bounced back to last year’s level, but the amount of cargo transported via the Port during the first half of the year did not reach last year’s level.

After two record monthly results in April and May, with more than 1 million TEU, the Belgian Port of Antwerp closed the second quarter with a strong month in June. The total freight volume handled by the Port was up 0.7% during the first six months compared with the same period last year.

MPA Singapore issued an infographic illustrating its performance for April 2019. The main KPIs estimated are vessels arrivals by GT and number, container throughput in TEUs and Tonnes, as well as bunker sales. The figures reveal a slight decrease year-on-year in vessels arrivals, but an increase in cargo throughput.

During April 2019, Iran's Lengeh port and its subsidiaries in the western part of Hormozgan Province handled a total of 1.2657 thousand and 971 tons of oil and non-oil products, which shows an increase of 71% compared to the same period last year.

The Port of Virginia, on the east US, handled a total of 245,933 TEUs in April, marking the busiest April in the port’s history. The strong cargo performance was driven by an increase of more than 22% in loaded import containers, which led to increase in truck, rail and barge volumes.
