Port of Los Angeles, the largest container port in the US, is forecasting a 25% drop in container volumes in February, as a result from the major disruptions brought by the coronavirus outbreak in shipping trade all over the world. 

Thermal coal imports at India's 12 major ports declined 14.98% with 74.60 million tonnes (MT) during the fiscal year of April 2019-January 2020, compared to 87.74 MT of the dry fuel in the same period of the previous year, according to data provided by the Indian Ports Association.

The Port of New York and New Jersey announced that managed 7.471.131 TEUs in total, marking a 4.1% increase, while broke the previous annual record of 7.179.788 TEUs in 2018. According to its financial reports for 2019, New York and New Jersey handled 5.231.418 loaded TEUs, surpassing the loaded imports handled by the Port of Long Beach.

Port of Gothenburg recently published its freight figures for 2019, presenting a growth in its container volumes. Specifically, 456.000 TEU were transported through the port's rail infrastructure, marking the largest rail volume in the port's 400-year history.

The Port of Long Beach culminated in its second-busiest year on record by moving more than 7.6 million TEUs, despite the ongoing US-China trade war, Executive Director Mario Cordero announced Wednesday at the annual State of the Port address.

MPA Singapore published an infographic about November's port performance, paying attention to key port indicators as the vessels that arrive, the container and cargo throughput, as well as bunker sales. Overall, November showed an increase in all port indicators.

On Friday, November 22, officials from Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT), terminal operator SSA Marine and U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administrator Rear Adm. Mark Buzby, broke ground on a new $238.7 million international container terminal at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.

PSA Kolkata Container Terminal, a subsidiary of PSA International Pte Ltd, set a new record of 61,755 TEU in October 2019, at Netaji Subhas Dock, Kolkata Port Trust, also setting another record cumulative total of 3 million TEUs, achieved from the beginning of the terminal's operations in November 2014.

Generally, October saw an increase in vessel arrivals and container throughput, but a decrease in cargo volumes and bunker sales. 

An ongoing trade war between US and China seems to affect volumes in the Port of Long Beach, the second busiest port in the US, which saw a 2.4% reduction in its TEUs handled through October, compared to the same month last year.
