STS crane falls onto container ship in Port of Vancouver

On January 28, an STS crane fell onto the container vessel 'Ever Summit' as the ship docked at the port of Vancouver's global container terminal. The crane's boom came down on top of several shipping containers that were stacked seven high on the vessel, partially crushing some of them. The boom was left bent and warped with a mess of mangled yellow guard rails, according to local sources.

Port of Vancouver reminds regulations on restricted visibility

Port of Vancouver in order to ensure safety informs that thick fog and fog patches are common at this time of year and there is a high chance of restricted visibility. Therefore, the port reminds the regulations that require anchored ships to sound every minute and moving ships to sound every two minutes as it is written on Rule 35 of Collision Regulations of Canada Shipping Act of 2001.
