Floating cranes to move crane that collapsed on container ship at Port of Vancouver

After an STS crane fell onto a container ship in Port of Vancouver, on January 28, two floating cranes were deployed to move it. Currently, ship operations are paused at the Global Container Terminals Vanterm facility, but rail and truck-gate operations are continuing. Global Container Terminals Vanterm stated that no injuries occurred and the situation remains stable.

STS crane falls onto container ship in Port of Vancouver

On January 28, an STS crane fell onto the container vessel 'Ever Summit' as the ship docked at the port of Vancouver's global container terminal. The crane's boom came down on top of several shipping containers that were stacked seven high on the vessel, partially crushing some of them. The boom was left bent and warped with a mess of mangled yellow guard rails, according to local sources.
