Container ship collides with tanker at Port of Piraeus

An ultra large container vessel (ULCV) collided with a small chemical tanker off the Port of Piraeus, Greece on September 26. According to initial information, two of the 13 crew of the tanker sustained injuries, while no injuries were reported on the container ship.

Livestock carrier catches fire at Port of Piraeus

Fire took place erupted on board the livestock carrier Boi Branco, which was berthed at Piraeus port, Greece, in the morning May 30. As of now, the extent of the damages or the cause of the fire is not known, while no injuries were reported. At the time of the incident, the vessel was in ballast, while it did not have any cattle on board.

Cargo ships collide in Port of Piraeus amid heavy wind

The Greek-flagged Ro-Ro cargo ship ‘Capetan Christos’ was sailing in the port of Piraeus coming from the island of Paros and heading to Elefsina, when she hit the Portuguese-flagged container ship “Stadt Dresden”, which was anchored. The winds were 7 Beaufort strong at that time.

Man falls overboard from passenger ship in port of Piraeus

The Piraeus Port Authority and Hellenic Coast Guard authorities are searching for a man, after he reportedly fell overboard from the RoRo passenger ship ‘Blue Horizon’, while the ship was docked in the port of Piraeus, in the evening hours of 23 May. 

Ferry rescues woman 5 nautical miles off Port of Piraeus

The crew of the ferry “Ag. Nektarios” rescued a woman who was spotted five nautical miles off the port of Piraeus. The woman was transported to a hospital, where she is currently being treated, as she was in shock. It is not known how the woman ended up in the sea. However, her health is good, despite being in shock.

Ferry sinking at Piraeus Port

The Greek-flagged ferry boat ‘Panaghia Tinou’ is taking on water and sinking at Piraeus Port. The 5,122-gt ferry, built 1972, has lost its stability and tugboats are currently at the port.
