The US Department of Transportation announced $855,950,000 in proposed grants through the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) discretionary grant program. The list of grants includes $8.04 million for the PortMiami to rehabilitate and create new capacity on the Seaboard Marine Terminal.

The UK’s Port of Southampton and Florida’s PortMiami signed a sister port agreement to enable them to collaborate and share best practices to strengthen the cruise market in both cities. The partnership provides responsibilities for cruise industry best practice in their respective areas.

MSC Cruises, the world’s largest privately-owned cruise company, announced it has received approval from the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners for an innovative cruise terminal at PortMiami, as part of its expanding presence in North America and in the Caribbean. 

Kalmar has agreed to supply six of its 'Zero Emission' rubber-tyred gantry (RTGs) cranes to the South Florida Container Terminal in Miami. This will make South Florida the first terminal in the US to have 100% zero emission RTGs, as these will be the first ones to be installed by any Miami terminal. The RTGs are scheduled to be delivered in early 2020 and are part of a project focused on redeveloping the South Florida Container Terminal.

The US Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection responded to a report of three stowaways on the merchant vessel, Diana J, on January 16, about three miles off the Port of Miami. The boarding teams found no additional stowaways, rescinded the Captain of the Port Order and the stowaways were taken into custody.

The video depicts Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas cruise ship arriving at Terminal A in Miami. Symphony of the Seas is the 25th vessel belonging in Royal Caribbean's fleet. The ship's naming ceremony will be held on 15th of November 2018 during a celebration hosted by the vessel's first ever Godfamily.

A new cruise terminal will be built in Miami. After an MoU was signed between MSC Cruises and Miami-Dade County, the two parties agreed to construct a new Cruise Terminal AAA at PortMiami. Last year Miami served more than 5.3 million travelers, more cruise passengers than any other port in the world.

PortMiami will use NOAA’s Physical Oceanographic Real-Time System, in order to ensure that super-sized ships coming through the recently expanded Panama Canal can enter more safely and efficiently the Miami seaport. PORTS will provide ship operators with real-time information that can help them better plan their transit and prevent accidents in and around the port.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and Miami-Dade County have reached an agreement to amend and restate a cruise terminal agreement including the construction of a new Cruise Terminal B at PortMiami. The agreement guarantees the county a minimum of 1.3 million Norwegian Cruise Line passenger moves annually.

NOAA launched a decision support tool for super-sized ships, coming through the recently-expanded Panama Canal, to enter the Miami seaport more safely. The tool reduces accidents by more than 50%, increases the amount of cargo ships can carry, reduces transit delays for commercial traffic, enhances recreational activities, and improves hazardous spill response.
