The innovation hubs of the Port of Hamburg (homePORT) , the Port of Halifax (The PIER) and the Port of Valencia (Opentop) have announced that they have started working towards the design and setup of the first network of innovation hubs in ports.

Port of Halifax and the ports of Montreal and Quebec were all hit by cyber attacks this week which are being investigated.

Canada's Halifax Employers Association and the Council of International Longshoreman’s Association (ILA) Locals have ratified a tentative new labour contract on 15 June, which was endorsed by the Halifax Port Authority. The new Collective Agreement is running form 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2020.

The 2017 cruise season in Halifax is expected to be the busiest to date, the Port Authority says. A record number of passenger visits and vessel calls will get underway on April 24, 2017 with the arrival of the Amadea, a Phoenix Reisen vessel.

The Halifax Port Authority has commenced a significant master planning exercise to prepare for the arrival of ‘ultra-class’ containerized vessels of over 10,000 TEU. The exercise will prepare the Port of Halifax for the next five to 10 years.
