The UK’s first rubbish bin made from recycled plastic aims to encourage people reduce plastic pollution at the sea, will be presented in Blackpool next week. The project aims to prevent plastic waste ending in the sea, by making the disposal of litter a more conscious action. The bin will be located on the Blackpool promenade, reminding to keep its beaches clean, and its a collaboration between GreenSeas Trust and Blackpool Council.

Malaysia will ship back around 3,300 tons of non-recyclable plastic waste to countries like the US, UK, Canada and Australia, in order to avoid becoming a dumping ground for developed countries, explained Environment Minister Yeo Bee Yin. Malaysia is trying to tackle illegal plastic recycling facilities that have increased across the country, and has closed over 150 plants since last July.

Up until 2050 the oceans will have more plastics that fish. Namely, thousands marine organisms die every year after swallowing too much plastics, or being trapped in them. However, there are five species that plastic pollution has affected the most. These are sea turtles, fish, seals, sea birds and whales.
