Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (Paris MoU) announced the launch of an inspection campaign to verify compliance with the requirements of Polar Code. The inspection campaign will be held from Monday 13 June to Friday 1 July 2022 (first period) and from Monday 1 August to Friday 19 August 2022 (second period).

The Paris Memorandum of Understanding (Paris MoU) on Port State Control (PSC) carried out a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Stability in General jointly with the Tokyo MOU between September 1, 2021 and December 1, 2021.

In view of the international situation, the Paris MoU Committee has decided to suspend the membership of the Russian Maritime Authority with immediate effect and until further notice.

Following the developments in Ukraine, the Paris MoU Advisory Board (MAB) considered that there is a need to apply flexibility under these circumstances considering difficulties to be encountered in repatriation of seafarers.

The Ukrainian-owned M/V "TURBO SM” was recently refused access to the Paris MoU region, as it has failed three inspections in three years.

Paris MoU has issued its list of ship detentions for July 2021. The updated list contains 50 ships compared to 38 in June and 46 in May. The details of detentions are entered in the information system of the Paris MoU after the ship has been released.

The Paris MoU issued its annual PSC report recording a 27% decrease in the number of inspections in 2020: from almost 18,000 in recent years to 13,148. The detention percentage of 2.81% has decreased only slightly (2.96% in 2019) but the number of detentions has decreased significantly from 531 in 2019 to 369 in 2020. 

Paris MoU has issued its list of ship detentions for May 2021. The updated list contains 46 ships compared to 38 in the previous month. The details of detentions are entered in the information system of the Paris MoU after the ship has been released.

The Paris MoU Committee adopted its new performance lists for flag States and Recognized Organizations (ROs). These lists will take effect from the 1st of July 2021.

Panama Maritime Authority has decided that is compulsory that all Panamanian flag vessels with Priority 1 in Paris MoU Inspection and Selection Scheme, that arrive at any port in Italy, to Conduct a Flag annual safety inspection (ASI) as soon as they arrive.
