Hawaiian ports resume operations as Hurricane Hector degrades

The US Coast Guard Captain of the Port reopened all commercial ports in the Hawaiian Islands as of 5 p.m. Wednesday. All vessel and cargo operations have resumed in Hawaii, Honolulu and Maui counties. Hurricane Hector is expected to continue to move west and degrade as it continues in its current direction. 

UK P&I Club: Loading grain cargoes in Pacific Northwest

The UK P&I Club recently issued bulletin in order to advise ship owners and charterers that loading grain in the Pacific Northwest can be a real test of patience, due to the fact that it rains approximately 150 to 180 days per year, with rain totals averaging 40 inches per year.
