The Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings issued a statement informing that it will expand and boost its presence in the cruise market of Alaska, amid its rapid development, following a 30-year agreement with Ward Cove Dock Group, LLC, in order to construct a new double ship pier located at Ward Cove, Ketchikan, Alaska.

On August 17th, 2019, Norwegian Encore successfully completed a major construction milestone, when it emerged for the first time from the Meyer Werft ship building dock in Papenburg, Germany. Norwegian Encore will be at the shipyard port for the final phase of construction, before its conveyance up the Ems River and towards the North Sea at the end of September.

Norwegian shipbuilder Meyer Werft announced the imminent launch of Norwegian Cruise Line's newest cruise ship, expected in the morning hours of 17 August 2019.  Once Norwegian Encore has left the dock, it will berth at the shipyard's out-fitting pier to be fitted with its funnel cladding.

Hurtigruten, expedition cruise line signed a deal with Norway-based Biokraft to supply climate-neutral liquified biogas (LBG) – and power ships with fuel made from dead fish and other organic waste. The partnership includes near-daily delivery of biogas produced from organic waste to Hurtigruten ships, the first cruise ships in the world to be powered by fossil-free LBG.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) will collaborate with Alaska Native-owned Huna Totem Corporation to build a second cruise pier in Icy Strait Point, Huna Totem’s world-class cruise ship destination in Hoonah, Alaska.

Norwegian cruise ships operator, Hurtigruten, decided to retrofit its ships to make them more eco-friendly, and plans to use a byproduct from dead fish and other organic waste in order to power their engines. Liquified biogas is a fossil-free, renewable gas produced from dead fish and other organic waste, , while it is considered one of the most eco-friendly fuels available.

A number of cruise lines have changed their routes ahead of hurricane Florence. Namely, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line altered their itineraries in order to avoid the hurricane, which was said to become a major hurricane by Monday, September 10.

As part of its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, Florida-based Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, operating the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, announced it is eliminating single-use plastic straws across its fleet of 26 ships and two island destinations.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and Miami-Dade County have reached an agreement to amend and restate a cruise terminal agreement including the construction of a new Cruise Terminal B at PortMiami. The agreement guarantees the county a minimum of 1.3 million Norwegian Cruise Line passenger moves annually.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, revealed their plans for a new Norwegian Cruise Line terminal at PortMiami. The project will begin in May 2018, and is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2019.
