The world's largest battery-hybrid ship, 'Color Hybrid', has arrived at Norwegian shipbuilder Ulstein Verft in Norway for final stages of completion. The vessel is to be delivered to Color Line approximately in mid-2019, when it will start servicing the Sandefjord and Strömstad route, improving the line between Norway and Sweden.

Seven people were slightly injured after the Norwegian frigate 'KNM Helge Ingstad' collided with the oil tanker 'Sola TS' off Bergen, Norway, in the early hours of Thursday 8 November. The warship developed dangerous list and all of its 137 crew were evacuated. The tanker suffered minor damage and there was no injury or oil spill reported.

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and the Norwegian Ministry of Finance has approved the transaction between concerning the sale of the licenses containing the Draugen and Gjøa fields in the North Sea from Shell to OKEA. The Ministry of Petroleum has also approved OKEA as the new operator for the Draugen field. The transaction between AS Norske Shell and OKEA AS is expected to close on 30th November.

DNV GL has been assigned to put together a report  for the Center for the Ocean and the Arctic.  The aim is to coordinate efforts to begin a course for the proper use of the ocean and the Arctic. Experts work to understand how technology, innovation and digitalization could help the growth of the ocean's economy. It is important to know actions that threat the ocean such as overuse, pollution, loss of biodiversity, climate change.

New legislation was released for review aiming to reduce emissions and discharges in the fjords. Namely, the Norwegian Maritime Authority proposed even stricter regulations to ensure a better environmental footprint in the area, by cutting emissions.

The new agreement will include a right for seismic vessels from both countries to cross the delimitation line and use their seismic equipment within a distance of 5 kilometers on the continental shelf of the other country. According to the Delimitaion Agreement of 2010, such discoveries shall be subject to unitization.

From 7 to 14 June 2018, Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority carried out an audit of Equinor’s operations at Kristin platform. The scope of the audit was on materials handling, use and maintenance of lifting equipment and scaffolding/access techniques, as well as its contractors’ practices.

Norwegian companies Nordlaks and NSK Ship Design have cooperated on a project that could be the beginning of a sustainable revolution in the fish farming industry. If the project is completed as it has been designed, it will result in the creation of the longest ship in the world. 

On 14 October, the Oseberg Vestflanken 2 field in the North Sea came on stream. Remotely-operated from the Oseberg field centre, the new Oseberg H platform is the first unmanned platform on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, with recoverable resources at 110 million barrels.

MOL Norge has applied for consent by the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority for exploration drilling of well 2/6-6 S, its first own-operated well on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. As part of the consent application processing, PSA Norway carried out an audit of MOL’s planning of the drilling operation.
