Damen Engineering has announced the completion of its first vessel design to be entirely created, reviewed and class-approved using 3D models in collaboration with Bureau Veritas (BV) and global NAPA.

In a research partnership with NAPA, Norsepower has been able to demonstrate the benefits of using the Norsepower Rotor Sail solution and NAPA’s Voyage Optimization together.

NAPA has become one of the founding and coordinating members of the Blue Visby Consortium, which is aimed at helping the shipping industry eliminate the wasteful practice of “Sail Fast, then Wait” (SFTW) through a collaborative platform. 

NAPA’s CEO, Mikko Kuosa, called on all shipping stakeholders to take tangible and proactive steps together to build cyber resilience across the industry.

NAPA will work with ClassNK and Japanese general trading company Marubeni to assess what fuel and carbon emission savings could be achieved through voyage optimization.

Norsepower signed an agreement with NAPA to offer weather routing software in combination with its Rotor Sails solution.

NAPA and ClassNK have strengthened their partnership to support the use of 3D models in the ship design approval process. By streamlining data sharing between design and class approval software, this move brings 3D model-based approval one step closer to reality.

NAPA and MOL, along with ClassNK have jointly developed a navigational risk monitoring system, which has been adopted in MOL’s fleet of over 700 ships.
