The Indian Ocean MoU has updated the list of foreign ships which are currently banned by its Member Authorities. The bans involve four ships in Australia, two in India, three in Iran, and two in Myanmar. The list is effective as of 29 April 2021.

As of the early Morning of March 15th, all mobile data connections in Myanmar have been cut off and there is no mobile internet connectivity, so delays in operations are possible.

Recent reporting indicates that after the Myanmar military taking control of the country, port and customs facilities continue to operate despite a temporary stop in custom’s operations.

In fact, a new deep-sea port will constitute the core of a new economic partnership between China and Myanmar after the two countries reach a series of infrastructure deals as part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Adani Yangon International Terminal was awarded approval from Myanmar in order to develop, operate and maintain the Ahlon International Port Terminal (2) in Ahlon, Yangon, on April 26. The approval comes as trade volumes are expected to grow in this area in the coming years. India and Myanmar signed an MoU to appoint a private operator of the Sittwe Port. This aims to enhance connectivity and create job opportunities, while the two counties discussed issues of common interest, such as the development of the Rakhine state.

Myanmar authorities may have solved the mystery surrounding a 'ghost-ship' which was found mysteriously drifting near the Yangon region last week, completely empty and rusty. The container ship 'Sam Ratulangi PB 1600' ran aground on a beach off Myanmar's capital, where she was discovered by fishermen Thursday.
