Abu Dhabi Ports announced the signing of a long-term agreement with MSC Cruises, meaning that the latter is now provided with berthing rights at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal and Sir Bani Yas Cruise Beach.

Hapag-Lloyd recently announced its collaboration with the 2M Alliance members, Maersk and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). Specifically, companies signed a space charter agreement which will further allow Hapag-Lloyd's entrance into selected services of 2M on the Asia-North Europe trade.

Following the multiple strikes taking place in French ports, MSC container shipping company announced it is implementing its contingency plans to re-route container ships away from the ports when necessary, Reuters reports.

According to a recent statement, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, highlights that is strongly committed to further reducing CO2 emissions; support longer term goals to fully decarbonize shipping and to further ensure its sustainability, in line with EU legislation, and that it is vital “that the raw data reported in the system are analyzed accurately and take operational realities fully into account, to give a realistic picture of the related emissions.”

On 5 December, MSC officially launched its new private island called "Ocean Cay", and welcomed its first guests, passengers of the cruise ship MSC Divina. The "Ocean Cay" is considered to be a tropical destination located in the Bahamas, offering privacy for each guest. 

In his keynote address at the 2019 HANSA Forum in Hamburg, on Thursday, November 21, Bud Darr, MSC Group’s Executive Vice President, Maritime Policy & Government Affairs, highlighted the challenges shipowners face in meeting the goals and regulations in light of the ambitious goal set by the IMO to half sulfur emissions by 2050.

The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and Mwani Qatar signed a container services agreement, in order to allow MSC's transhipments,through the use of Hamad Port as a regional hab. Specifically, MSC will manage up to 150,000 TEUs per year and is estimated a growth up to one million TEUS until 2023.
