Contracting governments may apply the SOLAS – Amendments to the IMDG Code (Amendment 38-16) in part or in whole, on a voluntary basis from 1st January 2017. Mandatory compliance will be required from 1st January 2018.

IMO approved the Interim Guidelines on Maritime Cyber Risk Management, which will soon be published as circular MSC.1/Circ. 1526 during the Maritime Safety Committee 96th session.

Circular MSC.1/Circ.1548, has been agreed by IMO MSC 96th Session to provide advice to Administrations, port State control authorities, companies, port terminals and masters regarding the SOLAS requirements for verified gross mass of packed containers

The 96th Session (MSC 96) of the IMO’s Committee on Maritime Safety (MSC) IMO MSC was held from Wednesday 11 through Friday 20 May 2016 under the Chairmanship of Mr Brad Groves and his Vice-Chair, Mr Juan Cubisino.

IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) has confirmed that ship construction rules for oil tankers and bulk carriers submitted by 12 classification societies conform to the goals and functional requirements set by the Organization for new oil tankers and bulk carriers.

The next stage in the implementation of goal-based standards for construction of oil tankers and bulk carriers is among the items on the agenda for the IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), which opened for its 96th session today. The Committee will take place from 11 May to 20 May 2016 in London.
