Enhancements to Maritime Singapore Green Initiative

MPA Singapore- Green Port Programme The Green Port Programme (GPP) was one of the programmes introducedunder the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative on 1 Jul 2011 to encourage oceangoing vessels calling at the Port of Singapore to reduce the emission of pollutants.As announced at the Singapore International Maritime Awards duringSingapore Maritime Week, the GPP will be enhanced to further promote clean andgreen shipping within the port as follows:(i) The port dues reduction for ocean-going vessels that use approvedabatement/scrubber technology1or burn clean fuels2throughout theirentire stay (of 5 days or less) in the Port of Singapore will be increasedfrom the existing 15% to 25%(ii) A new tier of port dues reduction of 15% will be introduced for oceangoing vessels that use approved abatement/scrubber technology orburn clean fuels only while at berth3 within the Singapore Port Limits.The enhancements to GPP will come into effect on 1 Jul 2013.To participate in the GPP, shipowners/charterers should ensure that theirvessels are pre-registered under the GPP (via the Marinet) prior to calling the Port ofSingapore.
